Patriot Apparel: Veteran-Owned Patriotic Shirts Supporting Veterans
At Patriot Apparel, our mission is bigger than just selling patriotic shirts. We strive to raise awareness about the challenges veterans and active-duty military personnel face every day through our bold, eye-catching patriotic apparel and military-inspired designs.
My name is Chad Childers, and I am the proud founder and owner of Patriot Apparel, a Veteran-Owned Business built on patriotism, purpose, and service. I served as an Army Ranger with the 2nd Ranger Battalion and deployed to Afghanistan in 2002. Later, I deployed to Iraq in 2003 with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Life After Military Service and PTSD
Like many combat veterans returning home from war, I struggled to transition back into civilian life after my deployments. The emotional and psychological effects of combat, including PTSD, made it difficult to adjust to normal life outside the military.
Instead of seeking help, I turned to alcohol to cope with the trauma and stress. My PTSD and alcoholism eventually led me down a dark path that resulted in homelessness. At one point, I found myself living on the streets of Jacksonville, Florida.
Eventually, I was referred to a homeless shelter for veterans, where I initially stayed for nine months. Unfortunately, recovery was not immediate. I continued struggling for years and ended up returning to the veterans shelter multiple times while trying to rebuild my life.
How Patriot Apparel Was Created
Throughout my life, I always loved art and creative design. During my recovery journey, I began experimenting with graphic design and creating patriotic artwork. I eventually designed a fundraising shirt for a large veteran t-shirt company and sold over 100 shirts in a single week.
Although the company’s logo was on the shirt, the design itself was mine.
That experience made me realize something important:
If I could help build success for another veteran clothing company, I could build something meaningful of my own.
That idea eventually became Patriot Apparel.

Patriot Apparel was never meant to be just another patriotic clothing brand focused only on profits. My vision has always been much bigger than selling cool military shirts.
